Communications Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Communications Manager is responsible for planning and executing communication strategies that enhance the visibility and reputation of ECP. This role involves creating engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences, including teachers, students, and community members, while maintaining brand consistency across all platforms. The Communications Manager will oversee social media management, event coordination, and outreach initiatives to foster stronger connections with stakeholders. By collaborating closely with the Director of Communications and other departments, the Communications Manager will ensure that all communication efforts align with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. This position requires a creative thinker with strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a commitment to promoting ECP as a leader in food systems education.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

​​​

  • Work the following hours:

    • ​Monday through Thursday: 8am - 5pm local time

    • Additional hours (including Fridays) as needed to achieve responsibilities

  • Must have a quiet, distraction-free, dedicated workspace with stable and fast internet connection.

  • Must have the ability to pass a background check.

  • Must be able to provide a sample of work and/or references upon request during the interview process.

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. Must be able to travel to in-person events when needed.

Experience and Skills:

​

  • Strong, proven grasp of marketing practices related to social media, advertising, fundraising campaigns, etc., especially on Meta Suite, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest.

  • Experience in content creation (graphic design, web design, writing, videos) for diverse audiences (teachers, students, community members) on Canva, Wix/Wix Studio, and the Google Workspace.

  • Strong writing capabilities, including blog posts, newsletters and other email campaigns, and webpages. Experience with Brevo or other email marketing platforms is required.

  • Experience with web analytics tools (Mixpanel preferred) for monitoring social media progress and optimizing strategies. Familiarity with SEO and other relevant web content strategies, including using SEMRush or similar platforms.

  • Experience in event coordination and promotion, including online events and Q&A sessions

  • Ability to track emerging studies in areas such as plant-based diets, new food technologies, industrialized agriculture, health and wellness statistics, and environmental research connected to eating trends.

  • Commitment to remain up-to-date on the latest processes in marketing and communications.

  • Strong attention to detail and content quality control, and exceptional communication abilities.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to adhere to expected deadlines. Experience with Monday.com or similar workflow management platform is preferred.

  • Professional, collaborative, and solution-focused communication with team members. Ability to manage assigned team members, such as contractors and interns.

  • Ability to take accountability and ownership of responsibilities and project outcomes.

  • Commitment to promoting ECP as a leader in food systems education, organizational values, and mission continuity.

BENEFITS:

Job Type: Full-Time, Remote

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8 am - 5 pm local time, occasional additional hours as required for duties (Salaried - 4 day typical work week) 

Compensation: Salary range between $60,000 - $66,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

​

The following list of job duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and is subject to change in accordance with the evolution of this role and continued program expansion.

​

Specific Job-Related Duties

​​​​​

The ECP Assistant may (but is not limited to):

​

  • Provide availability via email to respond to communications

    • ​Communicate with the Manager assigned to a task as needed and attend coordinated virtual meetings

    • Participate in virtual meetings with other team members or members of management as needed

    • Submit hours worked (if applicable) no later than midnight local time on Sunday prior to payroll on designated form
       

    Assist with Communications department tasks, such as:

    • ​Database work, including:

      • ​Updating existing digital contact databases as requested to be sure our contact lists are as up-to-date as possible

      • Adding new contacts for primary (ages 8+), secondary schools (ages 12-18), postsecondary schools (ages 18+), colleges, as well as approved community-audience venues, as assigned

      • Assisting with the creation of new database formats

      • Keeping an accurate record of all newly added databases/venues/contacts

    • Researching appropriate regions to identify contact information for new venues, as assigned

    • Sending outreach information through a variety of avenues, including but not limited to Gmail and other email platforms, and press release submissions

    • Organizing data uploads through Google Sheets, Hubspot, and other platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

​​​

  • Proficient in Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets

  • Experience in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud applications

  • Experience in Hubspot or similar CRMs

  • Experience with information research and/or experience in an educational setting

  • Experience with email marketing platforms and campaign management is a plus

  • Strong organizational skills and savvy attention to detail

  • Interest in ECP outreach and/or educational offerings
