ECP and EARTHDAY.ORG Unveil New Educational Presentation

ATLANTA, January 12, 2023 - The Educated Choices Program (ECP), in partnership with EARTHDAY.ORG, has announced a new educational presentation titled “The Planet and Our Plates (POP).” This free resource is an exciting video that uses the latest statistics and data from reputable sources to explore our food choices' impacts on the many environmental crises the planet faces and offers solutions for a more sustainable future.

POP is available online to English-speaking audiences worldwide who are interested in taking an advanced look at the environmental effects our food systems have at each stage of the process. Viewers will be empowered with critical knowledge and tools to become more responsible consumers, starting with their plates. In addition to “The Planet and Our Plates,” EARTHDAY.ORG and ECP collaborated to provide the public with follow-up resources including lesson plans, discussion prompts, and other classroom resources and materials.

“The Planet and our Plates” presentation, created by the Educated Choices Program with support from EARTHDAY.ORG highlights the important and essential role of individual choices and behaviors for positive climate action. POP demonstrates that we can all be agents of change toward a more just, sustainable planet. Every action taken is one additional step toward the complex social, economic, and environmental policy changes required to address the climate crisis.” - Matthew Aruch, Ph.D., Director of Global Education, EARTHDAY.ORG

"Partnering with EARTHDAY.ORG and collaborating to create ‘The Planet and Our Plates’ fills us with such excitement! We are positive that this presentation will play a pivotal role in educating society about the many environmental impacts of our current food system and in building a foundation for change.” - Karyn Knox, Chief Development and Partnerships Officer, Educated Choices Program

“The Planet and Our Plates” is the latest of several presentations the Educated Choices Program has developed to promote food literacy and the impacts of our food choices on human and planetary health.
