Free “Planetary Health: Agriculture in the Anthropocene” video and materials are now available to equip the next generation with the tools to build a healthier planet.
ATLANTA, June 24, 2026 – The Educated Choices Program (ECP) and the Planetary Health Alliance (PHA) have officially launched their new educational resource: “Planetary Health: Agriculture in the Anthropocene.” This resource features an engaging 18-minute educational video presentation and a comprehensive, open-access educational package designed for middle and high school teachers and students. By introducing the concept of Planetary Health, the materials help learners connect the dots among human activity, global food systems, and the health of the Earth.
The launch comes at a critical time as educators globally seek out timely, actionable solutions to address complex environmental challenges. Interweaving history and science, the module demonstrates how human well-being directly depends on the air we breathe, the soil that grows our food, and the water we drink. From there, it explores the environmental costs of industrial agriculture and empowers students by showing how daily food choices are one of the most powerful levers we have to reshape these systems.
“The future of planetary health will be shaped by what today’s students understand and the choices they feel empowered to make. At ECP, we have seen how powerful it is when young people connect science to their everyday decisions. By partnering with the Planetary Health Alliance, we are bringing that clarity into classrooms in a way that is grounded in evidence and accessible to educators. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation not just to understand global challenges, but to thoughtfully and confidently help address them."
said Lorena Mucke, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Educated Choices Program.
This new module integrates seamlessly into ECP's free library of resources exploring food systems' impact on personal, public, and planetary health. This education has been trusted by millions of learners worldwide and has been proven to be impactful in changing everyday behavior. 90% of ECP's viewers self-report being inspired to make positive dietary changes, while studies at prominent universities found that students were 2X more likely to choose more sustainable, plant-friendly meals after watching.
"Planetary Health" also expands PHA's expanding set of resources for children and youth, complementing its existing free eBook and classroom posters created for young learners.
Together, these materials introduce Planetary Health in clear, student-friendly language and equip educators with ready-to-use tools to support the next generation of informed, engaged stewards.
“Starting Planetary Health education earlier taps into children’s natural curiosity, capacity for learning, and innate connection to the natural world. It also lays the foundation for lifelong environmental stewardship, preparing them not only to face the world’s challenges, but to help lead the way to address them. By combining PHA’s global Planetary Health framework with ECP’s proven ability to turn science into engaging education, we are building something that can change how young people see the world and their place in it.”
said Jelena Malogajski, Education Director of the Planetary Health Alliance.
The “Planetary Health: Agriculture in the Anthropocene" video, lesson plans, and other materials will also be available in Spanish in the coming weeks.
