Educated Choices Program to Host Official NYC Climate Week Event in Partnership with the Planetary Health Alliance

ATLANTA, August 24, 2026 – The Educated Choices Program (ECP), an official Food Education Service Provider for NYC Public Schools, is proud to announce that it will host an official event during this year’s highly anticipated NYC Climate Week. The event, titled "Planetary Health in the Anthropocene: A Live Screening & Q&A for Classrooms," is being co-hosted with the Planetary Health Alliance (PHA) to educate and empower the next generation of climate advocates. Teachers are encouraged to join this event with their classroom on September 21, 2026, at 10:30 AM ET. Registration and more details are available at ecprogram.org/nyc.

During the event, ECP and PHA will stream a co-created educational video presentation, Planetary Health: Agriculture and the Anthropocene. Designed specifically for classrooms, the video explores the deep, undeniable intersections between human health, our changing environment, and the food choices we make every day, and empowers students to turn climate anxiety into action. Following the screening, students and educators will have the opportunity to engage in a live, interactive Q&A session with experts from both organizations.

ECP’s prominent presence at NYC Climate Week highlights its ongoing commitment to the city’s educational framework. As an official Food Education Service Provider for NYC Public Schools, ECP plays a crucial role in supporting the city’s innovative "Food Education Roadmap." By providing free science-based education, ECP helps NYC students understand how their daily food choices impact personal, public, and planetary health. ECP's education has also been proven to effectively and positively influence student behavior, with students in this peer-reviewed study choosing more sustainable food options at 2.5x the rate compared to those who did not participate in the program.

The event is a unique opportunity for educators across New York City and beyond to integrate critical climate and health science into their curricula. As a virtual event, this webinar also allows classrooms across the country to participate in a thriving Climate Week.
