Partnering with Green Schools Alliance for Sustainable Schools

ATLANTA, August 12, 2022 - The Educated Choices Program (ECP) and others have partnered with the Green Schools Alliance (GSA) to support the development of the Sustainability Tracking and Roadmap Tool (START) program. START is the only sustainability tracking and benchmarking tool built for K-12 schools and helps these institutions develop healthier, more sustainable learning environments by providing tools to evaluate their sustainability baseline, identify areas of improvement, set goals, and take action.

The Educated Choices Program is proud to support the START program’s more than 8,000 member schools with free educational presentations and accompanying quizzes, lesson plans, and resource toolkit. ECP’s science-backed presentations are designed to educate students and community members on the impact their food choices have on their health, the planet, and everyone on it. These educational outreach efforts result in more than 50% of viewers deciding to make positive changes in their diets, saving an estimated 156,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

“We are honored to partner with the Green Schools Alliance and assist in their efforts to help schools around the world not only understand what it means to operate and live sustainably but to also take measurable steps to achieve it. When we work as a team, we can accomplish more to improve the health of our planet!” - Karyn Knox, Chief Development and Partnerships Officer
